On This Day

On August 31, 2011 Celine Dion and part of the Dion family, visited La Maison Adhémar Dion, a palliative care centre opened in memory of Celine's father, in Lanaudière-Sud, Quebec, Canada.

La Maison Adhémar-Dion is a non-profit organization open in 2010 and built by donators of the Fondation du Centre de santé et des services sociaux (CSSS). Celine was accompanied by some of her siblings (Clément, Paul, Pauline, Liette, Michel, Jacques, Claudette) and her mother, Thérèse. They visited the house and spoke about the reason why it was named after Adhémar, how he died in his wife´s arms and about how each of them believes that taking care of their parents and family is so important. During this very touching interview, Celine spoke and made all of her sisters and brothers cry.

Celine Dion in "Silence... On chante" French Canadian Show August 31, 1986

On August 31, 1986, Celine Dion appeared in the French Canadian show "Silence... On chante". She sang a medley of songs from movies, dressed as the characters of the films.

Celine perfomed "Over The Rainbow", the French adaptation "Un pays pour nous" by Eddy Marnay of the song "Somewhere" from the musical West Side Story ,the song  "Cabaret" and "What I Did For Love".

Celine Dion - Let Your Heart Decide ( Astérix et les Vikings 2006 )

"Let Your Heart Decide"("Tout les secrets") is the second single from Celine Dion's French greatest hits album "On ne change pas" and also a theme song from the animated movie "Asterix and the Vikings". The music download was released in Canada on the same day as the album (October 4, 2005), but the CD single was released on March 13, 2006 in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Greece. In Poland, "Tous les secrets" was released on September 1, 2005 as the first and only radio single from On ne change pas.

The track was written and produced by Kristian Lundin, who already worked with Dion on hits like "That's the Way It Is" and "I'm Alive," and by Jacques Veneruso who wrote "Sous le vent," "Tout l'or des hommes" and "Je ne vous oublie pas" among others.

The CD single included also an English-language version of "Tous les secrets," called "Let Your Heart Decide." Both versions could be found later on the Asterix and the Vikings movie soundtrack, released on April 3, 2006. The music videos for both versions include fragments from the film. They were released on February 27, 2006, and included later on the Asterix and the Vikings DVD, released on October 25, 2006.

Let Your Heart Decide
I understand that you've met someone
With a perfect heart
But you've been questioned by everyone
So you're in the dark
Can you choose to fall
Should you risk it all

How'm I gonna stop it if you wanna give it all to love
When I'm on your side
And I understand you're the only one to know
Whether wrong or right
Let your heart decide (you're the only one)

Some may tell you don't take the risk
It's a waste of time
But if you think you'll find happiness
Baby take the dive

It's unusual
But it's critical

How'm I gonna stop it if you wanna give it all to love
When I'm on your side
And I understand you're the only one to know
Whether wrong or right
Let your heart decide (you're the only one)

Give it up
How'm I gonna stop it if you wanna give it all to love
When I'm on your side
And I understand you're the only one to know
Whether wrong or right
Let your heart decide (you're the only one)

Celine On Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Watch Celine on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, September 6. She’ll be performing “Loved Me Back To Life”, the first single from her upcoming English-language album. The late-night talk show airs on the American network ABC. Check your local television listings for details.

Is Celine Dion the new Skrillex?

Queen of the power ballad adds a dubstep style beat to her eagerly awaited new single.

It's the last move you might expect from the singer of sappy Titanic ballad "My Heart Will Go On".But Celine Dion's latest single, "Loved Me Back To Life", which she debuted on her website on Thursday, is a dramatically different sound from her usual fare.

The teaser video released by the star opens with the beating of a heart monitor before cutting to the singer crooning into a microphone, headphones on, dressed in a green and purple floral dress.
Although she utilises her famous vocals to full effect, the 45-year-old has added what Billboard describes as 'a beat drop that could almost be described as dubstep' to the track.

'Night after night you loved me back to life,' she warbles against an electro dance beat.
The single, as the video reveals, will premiere on Semptember 3, with an album of the same name to follow shortly afterwards.

Celine Dion - "Loved Me Back To Life" in Recording Studio Teaser

There’s only a few days left before the release of “Loved Me Back To Life”, the first single from Celine’s new English-language album.

Celine Dion Talks 'Loved Me Back to Life' Single, Album (Exclusive)

"I could not believe what I was hearing," Dion says of songs submitted to her for her first English-language album in six years

Celine Dion would like you to know that "Loved Me Back To Life" (Nov. 5) will be her edgiest record to date -- just not in the ways you might think.

By way of example, she sings a few bars of the song "Water And A Flame," originally recorded by Daniel Merriweather and Adele, which finds her utilizing the lower, grainier register of her voice. On the phone from her home in Las Vegas, Dion sings, "I need a drink to get me out / A couple more til I forget your name," using a deeper tone that is still distinctly hers even as it suggests the smokier hues employed by Adele. "A few years ago, I would have pronounced it 'a couple of more,'" Dion says, "I would have sung [stretches out the notes] 'till I forget your naaaame.' So for me, it's very, very different. I'm using my bedroom hair, bedroom voice."

More unexpected still is the lead single, due Tuesday (Sept. 3) on iTunes. "Loved Me Back To Life," the album's title track, was penned by Sia and produced by Sham and Mozart. Dion debuted the song in late July during a live show in Quebec City, and is in the early stages of figuring out how to incorporate it into her ongoing residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Sung in a minor key, the song is a different kind of power ballad for Dion, backed by a chorus that features a beat drop that could almost be described as dubstep.

"There was a point in my career I can remember for maybe 10 years it was all about, 'Who's gonna hold a note longer? Who's gonna sing the note higher?' And that's what the industry demanded," Dion says of the different approach. "It's not that we were in competition with each other. None of the singers who were doing that stuff wanted that… It has to evolve at some point, even if it's just for yourself. I can't wait to go onstage and sing these songs."

The new album (via Columbia) also features a pair of tracks written by Ne-Yo, including the duet "Incredible," which sounds so massive the Olympic Committee should start bookmarking it for the 2014 Winter Games. There's also collaborations with Babyface, Tricky Stewart, and Swedish trio Play Production, the latter of whom produced the beat-driven "Somebody Loves Someone," penned by Audra Mae (Avicii's upcoming "True.") And because it's still a Celine Dion album, "Loved Me Back To Life" features two covers — Janis Ian's "At Seventeen," and a reverent take on "Overjoyed," which doubles as a duet with Stevie Wonder himself.

That Dion received new songs at all is still a surprise to her, having last released an English-language album in 2007 ("Taking Chances"). "I've been gone for six years. There's a time where you think, 'Do you think people will write songs for me?'" she says. "I'm at the mercy of the songs because I don't write my material. But I could not believe what I was hearing. I'm not trying to reinvent myself, I don't want people to think. 'This is a brand new Celine,' but I am at a place in my career where I'm 45, I'm at the peak of my life, and I've never felt like this before. I want to have a good time."

Celine Dion - L'amour existe encore (Céline... Une seule fois on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City on July 27, 2013)

Quand je m'endors contre ton corps
Alors je n'ai plus de doute
L'amour existe encore

L'amour existe encore
L'amour existe encore
L'amour existe encore...

Pour t'aimer une fois pour toutes
Pour t'aimer coûte que coûte
Malgré ce mal qui court
Et met l'amour à mort

Quand je m'endors contre ton corps
Alors je n'ai plus de doute
L'amour existe encore

On This Day

On August 25, 2008, Celine Dion gave a concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, during her world tour "Taking Chances". On backstage before the show, Celine met with René Caron, Richard Huet and Gaston L'Heureux. Celine also met with Yvan Ducharme, who presented her with one of his works, "Le Coeur de Karine" (Karine's Heart).Yvan Ducharme also wrote tales for Celine Dion when she was younger, for example "Le Conte de Karine" (Karine's Tale).
The same day, Celine was photographed besides the visual for the japanese movie "Maboroshi no Yamataikoku", for which she lent her voice on the song "A world to believe in".

Celine Dion - Bozo (Céline... Une seule fois on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City on July 27, 2013)

Celine Dion pays tribute to Félix Leclerc performing "Bozo", a classic song from the Quebec.

Dans un marais
De joncs mauvais
Y avait
Un vieux château
Aux longs rideaux
Dans l'eau

Dans ce château
Y avait Bozo
Le fils du matelot
Maître céans
De ce palais branlant

Par le hublot
De son château
Bozo
Voyait entrer
Ses invités
Poudrés

De vieilles rosses
Traînant carrosse
Et la fée Carabosse
Tous y étaient
Moins celle qu'il voulait...

Vous devinez
Que cette histoire
Est triste à boire
Puisque Bozo
Le fou du lieu
Est amoureux

Celle qu'il aime
N'est pas venue
C'est tout entendu
Comprenez ça
Elle n'existe pas...

Ni le château
Aux longs rideaux
Dans l'eau
Ni musiciens
Vêtus de lin
Très fin

Y a que Bozo
Vêtu de peau
Le fils du matelot
Qui joue dans l'eau
Avec un vieux radeau

Si vous passez
Par ce pays
La nuit
Y a un fanal
Comme un signal
De bal

Dansez, chantez
Bras enlacés
Afin de consoler
Pauvre Bozo
Pleurant sur son radeau...
