An afternoon performance of the musical Rocking All Over the World will be staged at the Barnyard theatre on Saturday to raise funds for the Jes Foord foundation.
The Power of Love by Céline Dion, Careless Whisper by George Michael and Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira will be among the hit songs from 12 countries that audiences can look forward to.
“The show will be like a plane
that will take audiences ‘all over the world’ through music, with a
comical air hostess guiding them,” said Justin de Beer, general manager
of the foundation.
Tickets cost R135 and funds raised will go towards counselling rape survivors.
Foord became a heroine to many in
SA when she established the Jes Foord Foundation in 2009 after she was
gang raped by four men. She went public to highlight the added trauma
that victims went through after they were attacked.
The foundation helped to educate
people, raise community awareness, lobby on issues about rape, and to
assist, support and empower rape survivors and their families and
friends.
The show starts at 2pm. – Daily News Reporter
