Celine and the late Michael Jackson

After Michael Jackson’s passing, Celine performed his favorite song, “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin, in a special tribute during the 2011 Oscars. When asked why it was important to her to honour Michael, she said: "He changed my life. I saw him on TV and I wanted to sing in English because he was, so and I went to learn English and met with him and I (sang) with him and he came to see the show and he had a big impact on my life".

Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson debuted the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their single, "Beauty And The Beast."

January 18, 1992 - 23 Years Ago Today: Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson debuted at No. 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their single, "Beauty And The Beast." This was the title track to the enormously popular Disney animated film and was also Dion's third chart entry and third Top 40 and second Top Ten Bryson's 10th entry and 3rd Top 40 and second Top Ten when it reached No. 9 on April 18, 1992 and was certified Platinum. The single earned the two singers a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Duo and won an Oscar for Best Song for songwriters Howard Ashman and Alan Menken.

Celine Dion "The Reason" (Celine Dion: Au coeur du stade 1999)

"The Reason" is a single from Celine Dion's album "Let's Talk About Love". It was released on December 8, 1997 in selected European countries: United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium. In France, it was issued as a double A-side single with "My Heart Will Go On".

"The Reason" was co-written by Carole King and produced by the famous Beatles producer Sir George Martin. King did also the background vocals.

The song peaked at number 11 in the United Kingdom and number 13 in Ireland.

Carole King wrote this song first for the band Aerosmith.

Celine Dion performed "The Reason" during her "Talk About Love Tour"and as a duet with Carole King on VH1 Divas and at the 48° Festival di Sanremo on 1998 in Italy. 

The track was included later on"The Collector's Series, Volume One" in 2000 and "My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection" European edition in 2008.

The recording of this song was included as a bonus on the "Au cœur du stade" DVD.

"The Reason" is also included in the set list of Dion's new Las Vegas show, "Celine".

Celine on the Challenges of Growing Up

Celine has openly talked about the difficulties she faced growing up. By her own account, she wasn’t part of the popular crowd in school. She overcame the challenges she faced by focusing on her passion: singing. Celine once said, what “is great about maturity and growing older is that you understand the values of life and how it’s important to feel emotionally balanced, but it’s not given to you necessarily when you’re 15 and 17 years old (..)”. Celine also reflects on her teenage years with the song “At Seventeen”, a beautiful melody written and first recorded by Janis Ian.

Today is one of the Celine's close and best Friend and one of the famouse boxers Muhammad Ali his own name Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr  celebrates Birthday !

Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., was born on January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. Unlike many boxers, he was raised in a supportive, African American middle-class family. The older of two boys, he was named for his father, Cassius Marcellus Clay, Sr., who himself was named in honour of the 19th century abolitionist and politician of the same name. He had a sister and four brothers, including Nathaniel Clay

Clay made his professional debut on October 29, 1960, winning a six-round decision over Tunney Hunsaker. From then until the end of 1963, Clay amassed a record of 19–0 with 15 wins by knockout. He defeated boxers including Tony Esperti, Jim Robinson, Donnie Fleeman, Alonzo Johnson, George Logan, Willi Besmanoff, Lamar Clark, Doug Jones and Henry Cooper. Clay also beat his former trainer and veteran boxer Archie Moore in a 1962 match.

Celine Dion " To Love You More" (Celine Dion : Au coeur du stade 1999)

"To Love You More" is a single by Celine Dion, released in Japan on October 21, 1995. The lyrics are about a woman who makes an impassioned plea to her lover so that he does not leave her for another woman. It was recorded for a popular Japanese TV drama series, called Koibito Yo (meaning My Dear Lover), and included on The Colour of My Love album re-release in Japan. Later it appeared on the Asian edition of Falling into You, Live à Paris ("To Love You More" was one of the radio singles promoting this album in Canada), and the U.S. edition of Let's Talk About Love, being released as the third (but promotional only) single from this album.

"To Love You More" became one of the most performed songs by Dion during her live shows and was performed in the setlist of the Falling Into You Around the World Tour, Let's Talk About Love World Tour/ Au coeur du stade/, A New Day..., and the Taking Chances World Tour. Live versions of this song can be found on many of Dion's DVDs, including Live in Las Vegas - A New Day.... The track appeared also on All the Way… A Decade of Song greatest hits in 1999 and My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection in 2008.

Also in 1996, Sony Music Entertainment released a promotional video showing a live performance from the Falling Into You Around the World Tour, with Taro Hakase on violin. The song was re-released on April 7, 1999 in Japan, this time as a maxi-single with club remixes created by Tony Moran.

Today is Celine's husband, René Angélil's birthday. Over the years, Celine has always publically acknowledged René for helping her reach the top, but more importantly for being there for her, supporting her both on and off stage. Without René, none of it would have been possible!

Mariah Carey will replace Celine Dion for 9 days at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on 8,11,12,15,18,19,22,25,26 of July!

On Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Mariah Carey stopped by to announce her upcoming residency at Caesar’s Palace.

“I ‘m going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me,” said Mariah. “And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album Number 1’s, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them.” - Mariah Carey
