With her current Florida and Montreal homes for sale, Caesars Palace
superstar headliner Celine Dion will certainly be calling Las Vegas home
in the future, and I’ve now learned that it is going to be in a big
way.
I’ve previously reported on the homes she’s unloading for nearly $100 million. I’ve learned today that she’s planning new, expanded quarters at Lake Las Vegas, which is becoming her main residence.
I’d previously thought Celine was planning a large extension to her
existing home. Not so, according to my journalist friend Raphael Martin
of the Journal de Montreal. Returning from a Florida meeting with Celine
about her new album “Loved Me Back to Life” out Nov. 5, he told me:
“Celine says they are building an entire, new, much larger home on the
lake. They will stay in the current home until the new one is completed.
Then the existing one also will be sold. They decided they didn’t want
to live from boxes while construction was ongoing, so it will now be
moving into a new, bigger property and then selling the old one.”
Raphael and I agreed that Celine’s decision about the new larger home —
expected to be complete in two years — confirms earlier reports from her
husband manager Rene Angelil that she’ll be performing, with contract
extensions, at the Colosseum in Caesars through 2019.
In an interview we’ll post next Tuesday as Shania Twain returns to the
Colosseum during Celine’s hiatus, AEG Entertainment chief John Meglen
told me: “As long I’m involved, I don’t ever want Celine to leave. She
loves it here. It works perfectly for the family, too. I have no reason
for her to leave.”
Our Shania interview will be posted Thursday. So all I’m left to say to
Celine: Welcome to the neighborhood! We’re thrilled to have you as a
full-time homeowner.
