UNISON, Celine's first English-language album, was launched Today, April 2nd, 1990, at the Metropolis in Montreal 25 years ago today. 1600 people attended the event, which served as a mini-concert and was televised live, a first for the Montreal music industry. In another first, Celine spoke and responded to journalists in English at the launch.
At the time, Celine had this to say about the album: "CBS and Rene have been working on the album for 3 years. They received between 200 and 300 demos and listened to every single one. You never know what to expect. They chose about 50 songs. Rene knows what I like. After I listened to this selection, we decided to keep 20, recorded 15 and eventually chose 10 for the album.”
