Celine Dion: S'il suffisait d'aimer ( If It Is Enough To Love ) 1998

Three years after the phenomenal success of the D'eux album, the Goldman/Dion duo do it again with S’il suffisait d’aimer, a gentle album of ballads, gospel and blues. S’il suffisait d’aimer is entirely written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, with the exception of Papillon and Terre credited to Erick Benzi.

The album’s first single Zora sourit explore a new theme for Céline’s repertoire as it denounces racism and advocates tolerance. For the album’s title song, S’il suffisait d’aimer, Goldman creates a number which highlight the many possibilities of Celine’s voice. On ne change pas, the album’s third single, is a song about childhood and adolescence, a painful period for a young Celine who disliked school. The song achieves a perfect balance between simplicity and efficiency.

Several of the album’s songs reflect Celine’s immense talent, whether through the poignant melody of Je crois toi or the mesmerizing power of Dans un autre monde. This is an album deserves to be listened attentively, the cautious listener could then appreciate the exceptional chemistry between a composer and a singer.

'S'il suffisait d'aimer' is Celine's 4th french-language studio album. The project reunites Celine Dion and Jean-Jacques Goldman, who last worked together on the very successful album 'D'eux' (also known as 'The French Album') which sold just under 6 million units worldwide. 'S'il suffisait d'aimer' was written by Jean-Jacques Goldman with Erick Benzi (who contributed two songs to the album). RELEASE DATE: SEP 8, 1998
