Celine Dion tells ET Canada about the 20-minute meeting she had in February of 2008 that changed her life.
Accompanied by her husband René Angelil and other members of her family, the singer met Nelson Mandela after her first concert in Johannesburg, for the Taking Chances World Tour. "Having the opportunity of meeting him was truly a profound experience," she says about her experience.
The superstar who named one of her twin sons Nelson, after the political activist also shares her condolences for his family upon his passing: "My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mandela's family and with all of those who loved him so deeply. As everyone knows, he was an extraordinary human being whose courage and determination helped change the world forever."
Celine also honoured the man by saying: "He was such a gentle soul, full of love and compassion... a privilege that I will cherish for the rest of my life. God Bless you, Mr. Mandela."
