“O Holy Night” is a popular Christmas carol. Created in the 19th century, this song was inspired by a French poem ‘Minuit, chrétiens’ by Placide Cappeau, a poet and wine merchant. Many artists, including Celine, have recorded this famous carol. Celine’s version, produced by longtime collaborator David Foster, can be found on her holiday album ‘These Are Special Times’. In 2004, a survey revealed that Celine’s version was considered the most popular.
O Holy Night
O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
O hear the angel voices
O night divine!
O night when Christ was born
O night divine!
O night, O night divine!
[Choir:]
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains He shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in His name, all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us praise His holy name
Christ is the Lord!
Their name forever praise we
Noel, Noel
O night, O night divine
Noel, Noel
O night, O night divine
Noel, Noel
O night, O holy night
