Did You Know That ?

During an interview Celine revealed that she wouldhave liked to have “lived” her album ‘D’elles’ more than she did. The songs on this album centre around the theme of ‘woman’ and are written by female authors from France and Quebec. One of the writers is Nathalie Nechtschein, a young poet with Down’s syndrome from Grenoble, discovered by chance by an associate of Jean-Jacques Goldman. Nathalie wrote the lyrics for “Si j’étais quelqu’un” (If I Was Someone) which was originally a poem titled “Si j’étais quelqu’un comme les autres” (If I was Someone Like Everyone Else). This moving poem is about being different and having dreams. Discussing the song, Celine explains: “It’s the words that touched me the most. Where does being normal start and end, and who are we to set the boundaries of normalcy?”*
