Since her return to Caesars Palace on June 8 after a throat crisis, Dion has been covering Adele's hit "Rolling in the Deep."
Dion's husband and manager, Rene Angelil, explained in a telephone interview on Wednesday how it happened.
"She
doesn't buy many records, but one in her car she heard her sing and
asked me to buy (the Adele album)," Angelil said. That was about three
months ago.
Angelil remembered his history: Back in the '70s,
Frank Sinatra covered Barry Manilow's "I Write the Songs," although he
changed the wording to "I Sing the Songs."
"I thought if Sinatra
can cover Barry Manilow, then Celine can cover Adele," Angelil said.
"She's a big fan. It worked, and people are raving about it."
After
her Fourth of July show, Celine went to the recording studio to add
Jacque Brel's 1959 classic "Ne Me Quitte Pas" to her upcoming English
album.
She ends her latest engagement Sunday then returns late this month.
