In 2003, Celine performed on stage alongside several other
Quebec artists in Gatineau, Quebec for a special tribute concert to
legendary French songwriter Eddy Marnay. Eddy Marnay wrote the first
songs that Celine recorded and they made five albums together. Among the
songs that Eddy Marnay wrote for Celine are “Tellement j’ai d’amour pour toi”, which won the gold medal at the 1982 Yamaha Music Festival in Tokyo, and “D’amour ou d’amitié”,
a song that made Celine the first Canadian artist to receive a gold
record in France; the song sold over 700,000 copies. Celine and René
named one of their twin boys, Eddy in honour of the famous songwriter,
who was also a close friend.
