Celine Dion to Receive ICON Award, Perform at Billboard Music Awards May 22, 2016 !

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards air live from Las Vegas on Sunday, May 22, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Celine Dion will receive the ICON Award at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, where she will also take the stage for a performance of Queen's "The Show Must Go On."

The legendary singer won't have to travel too far from her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace to pick up the honor and perform at the T-Mobile Arena just down the Las Vegas Strip. Past winners of the ICON lifetime-achievement award include Jennifer Lopez in 2014, Prince in 2013, Stevie Wonder in 2012 and Neil Diamond in 2011.

"Celine Dion has a huge repertoire of monster hits and she personally chose to perform 'The Show Must Go On' as her ICON performance on the Billboard Music Awards," said Marc Bracco, the show's executive producer. "I think at this moment in her life, the song has many meanings and it’s an amazing choice."

One of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history, Celine Dion has sold almost 250 million albums during her over 30-year career. She has earned five Grammy Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, two Academy Awards, six American Music Awards, 20 Juno Awards (Canada) and an astonishing 40 Felix Awards (Quebec). She’s placed 17 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, including a dozen top 10 efforts — four of which reached No. 1. Her most recent studio album, 2013’s Loved Me Back To Life, continued her hot streak in the top 10, as it debuted at No. 2 on the chart. Additionally, with 11 No. 1s on the Adult Contemporary chart, she holds the record for the most chart-toppers by a woman in the 55-year history of the list. In 2004, Celine received the Diamond award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time. In 2007 she was honored with the Legend Award at World Music Awards in recognition of her global success and outstanding contribution to the music industry. Celine continues to perform her critically-acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Celine” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and will hit an epic 1,000 performances in the venue this fall.

Over her three-decade singing career, Dion has had 17 albums on the Billboard 200 chart -- including 12 top 10s and four No. 1s -- selling almost 250 million albums. She holds the record for most No. 1s on the Adult Contemporary chart with 11 chart-topping songs. She has also earned five Grammy Awards and already has six Billboard Music Awards.

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards -- hosted by BBMA vet Ludacris and first-time host Ciara and produced by dick clark productions -- air live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 22. In addition to Dion, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber and P!nk will all perform, with more performers to be announced in the coming weeks.
